THE HEART LISTENS TO NO ONE: IT HUMS ITS OWN SONG is a collection of poems based on the theme of love. The cover gives a mystical feeling to the book.

I started this book with a lot of expectations as I have read Purba’s novel The Hidden Letters; I’m glad to say that the book lives up to my expectations.

The poetess, Purba Chakraborty, begins with a lovely introduction about the magic of love, and the stirrings of the heart.

When a person falls in love, his heart becomes an orchestra of emotions which churns out a beautiful song, audible only to the heart of his lover.

– Purba Chakraborty, The heart listens to no one

The poems are divided into 5 categories—unconditional love, longing, romance, fond reminisces, and separation—showcasing 35 distinct shades of love. The poem “The Soul Tale” describing the merry event of finding a soul mate is a wonderful start to the collection.

Each poem tells an unique love story. The lovers might part, but love stays forever in the nostalgic corner of the heart.

The poetess, Purba Chakraborty, creates magic with her writing. The poems portray a range of emotions from the joy of dancing with your beloved to the tears of a lost love. Every poem pulls the strings of the heart, and plays an intricate melody.

My favourite poems are Kaleidoscope, and You are my poetry.

Enticing excerpts:

The gurgling river flows…

Somewhere in the middle

We met, fell in love

And separated.

-The gurgling river

There you were,

Enveloped in cottony fog

Staring at me

With your winsome smile.

You made me complete

I recommend The Heart listens to no one: it hums its own song to everyone who has ever been in love.
